Prunes Dipped in Chocolate

Today is the 8th of March – International Women’s Day. I don’t think it is celebrated in the US, but in Azerbaijan it is big. Good for women, bad for men:)) They have to buy flowers, chocolates, gifts for all the women in the family, at work, at school, including wives, moms, grandmas, aunts, sisters, cousins, and so on and so forth. to Or the least they can do is call them, and make them feel special. Women congratulate women too.

What do women like to receive as a gift? I think flowers and chocolate are universally popular among women. I wanted to give you flowers today – virtually. I rolled up my sleeves to bake Kala Lily flower shaped biscuits (cookies). Well, all I can say the kitchen turned into a disaster area and my face went sour after 2 unsuccessful attempts to come up with something descent. The first attempt left me with a bunch of cookies I just couldn’t remove from the baking paper. The second one was worse – I burned the cookies. I gave up on flowers.

I was left with the second and last option. Chocolate. Who doesn’t like to indulge in this heavenly thing? I don’t have a sweet tooth but when a sinful need for something sugary strikes me, I go for chocolate. The recipe I am posting today is super easy to make. The good news is that it is not exactly chocolate: to be exact, it is prunes stuffed with almonds (both healthy) then dipped in chocolate. So you can rest assured that it is not that rich in calories. For this recipe, you only need prunes, almonds and chocolate. And craving for something sweet on top!

I stuffed my prunes with almonds. You can stuff them with walnuts, hazelnuts or whatever you want, as long as it is something edible. If your prunes aren’t pitted, make a slit along each one to remove the stone. The recipe will tell you the rest.

STUFFED PRUNES DIPPED IN CHOCOLATE

15 pitted prunes
15 almonds
about 7 oz / 200 g plain chocolate, broken into small pieces

1. Place almond inside each prune.

2. Fill a pan with water (about 5 cups). Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium. Place chocolate pieces in heatproof bowl and place it over the pan with boiling water. Melt the chocolate, stirring with a wooden spoon. Remove from heat.

3. Using a fork, dip the prunes into the chocolate to cover them generously. Place on a parchment (baking) paper to set. Chocolate prunes are ready when chocolate has hardened and does not leak. Wasn’t it easy?
